The games market is the fastest growing sector in the entertainment industry. It is therefore no surprise that game developers are constantly pushing boundaries, and are often the first adopters of new technology in their pursuit of the next Tomb Raider.

artemdigital is on top of hardware advances and constantly working to help developers bring more realism to their games. We can supply multiple assets to help speed up the development of game projects: motion capture for animation, head scans for rapid character model generation, laser based object scans, and our '4D' facial capture for high quality facial animation.

The 4D facial system now has a bones-compatible output capability, and can use your existing character meshes - meaning that it is compatible with existing pipelines and in-game support methodologies.

SCEE | The Getaway

The Getaway, a double Platinum title, has sold over 3 million copies in the UK and US alone!

The data for the game was shot in our studios using our magnetic motion capture system.  The magnetic system requires all props used to be made entirely without the use of ferrous materials. Artem Special Effects, our sister company, managed this without any problems and built a large number of complex props including a modular vehicle capable of emulating cars and vans from a number of different manufacturers.  The accuracy of the build ensured that the action was a precise fit with CG equivalents in the game.

In addition to capturing the action itself we recorded simultaneous audio with Sennheiser radio microphones and reference facial video. The latter was facilitated using headset-mounted miniature cameras, also designed and built by our sister company.
